I had the pleasure of photographing Kayla and Chris’ gorgeous wedding on Saturday.
I love shooting weddings in August, the weather is warm (but not too hot for the guys wearing suits) and only a slight chill in the air at night…although Mother Nature had other plans for us, with the morning starting off as a drizzle and then by the end of the day it was pouring! But the wet weather didn’t concern Kayla or Chris, and myself and Natasha (my amazing assistant/second shooter) had heaps of ideas to do things a bit differently to defeat the rain!
The lovely Bernice from All Your Memories (Videography) http://www.allyourmemories.com.au met us as we started at the Chifley at Lennons in the Queen Street Mall, where Kayla and her beautiful bridesmaids (and of course her gorgeous little flower girl) were getting ready. And Kayla was totally organised, hair and make up done and she was ready to get dressed and get this show on the road!!
Kayla had the boddice of one dress and the skirt of another to make this stunning gown exactly what she wanted
Stunning bouquets from Bouquets with Bling http://www.bouquetswithbling.com.au
We all loved Kayla’s shoes – Kayla said they were so comfortable that she could run a marathon in them.
Such a beautiful touch, Kayla had her pendant with her parents’ wedding photo and a photo of her mum, in loving memory of her mum
Little Miss G her flower girl was just gorgeous. And it was so beautiful of Kayla to make her feel like a mini princess.
Thank you Cassandra, Kirra and Shalise for being such wonderful bridesmaids, you all looked amazing!
Afterwards we met Chris and his groomsmen at St Stephens Cathedral. All the guests were gathering in the Cathedral to escape the rain, and congratulating Chris..
Then before we knew it, Kayla was arriving – she did say she wanted to get the show on the road!
I love the look on Kayla’s face and that her shoes are peeking out
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Smith
The boys just chilling
The Queen Street Mall made a great backdrop for their location photos.
Another great thing when it’s raining is that it makes you look for different spots to photograph, like arcades and laneways.
Even the stairway down to a Karaoke Bar was cool for photos.
And then we headed out of the rain and to the Ballroom at the Chifley Hotel.
Thank you Kayla and Chris for being such great wedding clients, your wedding was just beautiful and it was an honour to be a part of your day.
Looking forward to catching up after your honeymoon.
